Our regular first-Monday-of-the-month meeting will be at St. Luke's Episcopal Church Parish Hall in Fort Valley at 7 pm, July 2. (Meeting time has been changed from 6:30 to 7 pm.) St. Luke's is at 1000 State University Drive, right across the street from the first entrance to Fort Valley State University.
At these Monday meetings, we share tips on writing and getting published. But mostly, we bring copies of something we have written and get critiques from the group. I hope to bring something new from my memoir!
Remember that we are moving away from use of Meetup.com and will communicate with each other from now on via this blog and comments or via the Facebok page called Fort Valley Writers' Group at St. Luke's. So it is up to us, from now on, to invite new members and give them the contact information.
The following meeting, our write-in, will be July 17 at 7 pm at Atlanta Bread Co. in Warner Robins.
I am the organizer and contact person for the Fort Valley Writers Group at St. Luke's. We meet at 7 pm 1st Tuesdays at St. Luke's across from the university in Fort Valley and 4th Tuesdays at Panera in Warner Robins.
The History of the Fort Valley Writers' Group at St. Luke's
Our group, formerly the Fort Valley Writers Meetup@St. Luke's, has been in existence since May 2016. Our members come from Fort Valley, Byron, Warner Robins, Macon, and elsewhere. We all are serious about writing, whether it be fantasy, science fiction, novels, memoirs, poetry, blogs, or other genres. We have discussed agents, query letters, publishers, conferences, and self publishing as well as writing techniques. Recently, we have concentrated on bringing work to the group to be critiqued, on 1st Mondays, and sitting to write on 3rd Tuesdays. Our members include old and young and are diverse in other ways.
If you have a question or a comment, comment below, and I will respond on behalf of the group.
