The FV Writers Group at St. Luke's will get together October 16 at 7 pm for our monthly time of just sitting and writing. The gathering will be at Panera Bread in Warner Robins. We also need to know how members feel about changing the first meeting of each month from Monday to Tuesday.
On another note, I'm thinking about using this blog as an advice column. As an adult, I lived far from my parents. They were in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and I was in Fort Valley, Georgia. We didn't have email or social media. But they never stopped giving me advice, and I have their advice today in the form of letters. I am thinking of using this blog to share my own advice that seems important. It would be for my children but also for others who can use it. I would not share anyone's personal examples or issues, but instead I'd try to find examples from my past experience. I plan to work on this idea some more at Tuesday's Write-in.
I am the organizer and contact person for the Fort Valley Writers Group at St. Luke's. We meet at 7 pm 1st Tuesdays at St. Luke's across from the university in Fort Valley and 4th Tuesdays at Panera in Warner Robins.
The History of the Fort Valley Writers' Group at St. Luke's
Our group, formerly the Fort Valley Writers Meetup@St. Luke's, has been in existence since May 2016. Our members come from Fort Valley, Byron, Warner Robins, Macon, and elsewhere. We all are serious about writing, whether it be fantasy, science fiction, novels, memoirs, poetry, blogs, or other genres. We have discussed agents, query letters, publishers, conferences, and self publishing as well as writing techniques. Recently, we have concentrated on bringing work to the group to be critiqued, on 1st Mondays, and sitting to write on 3rd Tuesdays. Our members include old and young and are diverse in other ways.
If you have a question or a comment, comment below, and I will respond on behalf of the group.
